Peleliu: Guernica of Paradise Anime Movie Reveals Trailer, Visual, and Main Cast Ahead of December 2025 Release
The anime adaptation of Peleliu: Guernica of Paradise, Kazuyoshi Takeda's critically acclaimed World War II manga, will premiere in Japan on December 5, 2025. Directed by Goro Kuji and featuring voice actors Rihito Itagaki and Tomoya Nakamura, the film highlights the human cost of war through powerful storytelling and historical reflection.

The official teaser trailer and visual for the upcoming anime film Peleliu: Guernica of Paradise have been released, offering a first look at the adaptation of Kazuyoshi Takeda’s award-winning WWII manga. The film is scheduled to premiere in Japanese theaters on December 5, 2025.

Rihito Itagaki (The Promised Neverland live-action) will voice Hiroshi Tamaru, a gentle manga artist turned soldier.

Tomoya Nakamura (Spy x Family Code: White) will voice Keisuke Yoshiki, Tamaru’s dependable companion.

“To portray Hiroshi Tamaru in this significant year, 80 years since the war ended, carries great responsibility and meaning.”

About the Production
Directed by Goro Kuji (Bungo and Alchemist -Gears of Judgement- assistant director), the anime features a screenplay co-written by Junji Nishimura and Kazuyoshi Takeda himself. The film’s character design and chief animation are handled by Ryoji Namamura, while Kenji Kawai composes the score. Animation production is led by Shin-Ei Animation and Fugaku.
About the Manga
Originally serialized in Young Animal from 2016 to 2021, Peleliu: Guernica of Paradise spans 11 volumes and received the Excellence Award from the Japan Cartoonists Association in 2017. The manga is widely praised for its haunting portrayal of the Pacific War and the humanity of its characters.
Story Synopsis
Set in summer 1944, the film follows Hiroshi Tamaru, a former draftsman, who finds himself on the island of Peleliu, a tropical paradise that becomes a battlefield during one of the most brutal conflicts in the Pacific War. The story portrays the fierce and tragic struggle between 40,000 American and 10,000 Japanese troops fighting over a critical airfield. With orders to resist until death, the Japanese soldiers face overwhelming odds in a battle that transforms paradise into hell.
