Directed by Goro Taniguchi (ONE PIECE FILM: RED) and co-created with Katsuya Kondo (Kiki’s Delivery Service), the film tells the inspiring story of two Japanese girls pursuing their dreams in early 20th-century Paris.

A New Original Anime from Top Creators

L’étoile de Paris en Fleur was announced by distributor Shochiku as an original anime feature directed by Goro Taniguchi, the acclaimed filmmaker behind ONE PIECE FILM: RED, Planetes, and Code Geass. The project is based on concepts created by Taniguchi and Katsuya Kondo, the legendary animator and character designer for Kiki’s Delivery Service.

Produced by ARVO Animation, the film promises an emotionally rich story set against the vibrant backdrop of early 1900s Paris.

First Teaser Visual and Main Character Reveal

The production unveiled its first teaser visual, drawn by Kondo, featuring the film’s central character Fujiko. Fujiko will be voiced by Ami Toma, known for playing Meguru Aizawa in the live-action Chihayafuru: Full Circle series and voicing Kokoro Anzai in the anime film Lonely Castle in the Mirror.

Story Synopsis

The film follows Fujiko, a young woman who dreams of becoming a painter, and Chizuru, a girl deeply passionate about ballet. The two meet by chance in Yokohama and form a friendship rooted in ambition and creativity.

Fate brings them together again years later in Paris, the artistic capital of the world at the time. In the face of societal challenges and personal hardships, the two women encourage each other to continue chasing their dreams—painting and dance—against the odds.
