The long-awaited anime adaptation of Tojima Wants to Be a Kamen Rider, based on Yokusaru Shibata’s seinen manga, officially premieres on October 4, 2025 in Japan. The series will air on TOKYO MX and other networks, while Crunchyroll adds it to the Fall 2025 anime simulcast lineup. Directed by Takehiro Ikezoe and produced by LIDEFILMS, the anime brings Tanzaburo Tojima’s emotional, tokusatsu-inspired journey to life, complete with an opening theme “Wanna be” by TeddyLoid feat. The upcoming anime Tojima Wants to Be a Kamen Rider has finally confirmed its broadcast date. Starting October 4, 2025, the series will premiere on TOKYO MX and additional Japanese stations. International fans can stream the episodes on Crunchyroll, as the title joins the fall 2025 anime simulcast season.

The adaptation is based on the tokusatsu-themed seinen manga written by Yokusaru Shibata, with original characters licensed from Ishimori Productions and Toei. The manga is currently published in Comiplex digital magazine by Hero’s Inc.

The anime is directed by Takehiro Ikezoe at LIDEFILMS, with Touko Machida handling series composition, Cindy H. Yamauchi providing character designs, and TeddyLoid in charge of music. The opening theme song, titled “Wanna be”, is performed by TeddyLoid feat. Shigeru Matsuzaki and TOPHAMHAT-KYO (FAKE TYPE.), setting a high-energy tone for the show.

Story Overview

Tojima Wants to Be a Kamen Rider follows Tanzaburo Tojima, a forty-year-old man whose life is defined by his obsessive love for the Kamen Rider franchise. While society sees him as a failure chasing an impossible dream, Tojima refuses to let go of his passion. Just as he prepares to give up, a sudden encounter with a robber transforms his fate and reignites his path to becoming the hero he has always wanted to be.
