The box office momentum for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle shows no sign of slowing down. Following a record-breaking debut, the first film in the Infinity Castle trilogy retained its No.1 ranking at the Japanese weekend box office from July 25 to 27, despite a 44% drop from its premiere earnings.

In its second weekend, the film brought in 3.099 billion yen (approximately $20.86 million USD) across 2.212 million admissions, cementing its dominance for a second consecutive weekend, according to box office tracker Kogyo Tsushinsha.

Fastest Film to Reach 10 Billion Yen in Japan

Within just eight days of its release on July 18, Infinity Castle shattered historical records by surpassing 10 billion yen in gross revenue — a milestone that previously took Mugen Train ten days to reach. As of day 10, the film has grossed 12.87 billion yen (around $86.63 million USD) with 9.1 million admissions, according to the film’s official X (formerly Twitter) account.

The Infinity Castle movie is now ranked as the 29th highest-grossing film of all time in Japan, edging past the 1993 classic Jurassic Park, which earned 12.85 billion yen.

Other Highlights from the Weekend Box Office:

  • Uta no Prince-sama The Movie: TABOO NIGHT XXXX climbed to #7 in its 12th weekend, with a cumulative gross of 1.7 billion yen (approx. $11.44 million USD) from 1.04 million tickets since its May 9 debut.

  • Toi-san wa Seishun Shitai! “Baka to Smartphone to Romance to”, based on a VTuber short anime, dropped out of the top 10 after its second weekend.

  • BULLET/BULLET: Dangan Shissou-hen, the first of a two-part film compilation, debuted in 47 theaters on July 25 but failed to crack the overall top 10 or mini-theater rankings. The second film, Dangan Kecchaku-hen, releases on August 15.

  • KING OF PRISM: Your Endless Call – Minna Kirameke! Prism☆Tours fell out of the top 10 in its fifth weekend, despite previously holding spots in weeks three and four.
